This form of treatment is a safe and minimally invasive technique used for patients presenting with musculoskeletal conditions, such as muscle trigger points. A trigger point is a hyper-irritable, palpable band of tissue that can restrict range of motion and cause pain and tenderness in locally irritated tissue. In this procedure a thin monofilament penetrates the skins and treats the underlying tissue to help modulate pain and in turn improve potential impairments in movement, leading to a faster recovery.
Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization treatment tools are myofascial release tools that are designed to assist with soft tissue therapy for the treatment of musculoskeletal immobility and pain. IASTM treatments address soft tissue restriction, initiate healing mechanisms, and stimulate mechanical receptors that create favorable changes in movement and pain. Our practitioners are able to engage the myofascial tissues by creating tension and shear with these tools which will in turn create positive effects to both mechanical and neurological systems of the body.
Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve cell metabolism and lead to tissue healing and repair. Research shows it may also help form new connective tissues and create new blood vessels in the adjacent tissues. If you are looking to relieve muscle tension, speed post-workout recovery, or improve athletic performance this may be for you!
Do you feel tight or restricted with certain movements? If you answered yes you may be a good candidate for joint mobilizations and/or adjustments as determined by your physical therapy provider. These forms of manual therapy have been shown to provide pain relief, and restore your natural range of motion, which ultimately allow you to return to the activities you love!
Practitioners can apply kinesiology tape to the skin to deploy a microscopic lifting effect underneath the skin and between the many layers. This allows the by-products created by inflammation to be removed more quickly. Additionally, taping treatments can be used to assist in promoting better posture when hypo-functioning musculature is present in an individual by improving body awareness.
