Open Books

Enhances thoracic mobility and relieves upper back tension.

In today’s video, we’re focusing on Open Books — a simple yet effective exercise to enhance thoracic mobility, relieve upper body tension, and improve rotational flexibility. Perfect for warm-ups or cooldowns!

How to Perform the Exercise

  1. Lie on your side with your knees bent and stacked, and your arms extended straight out in front of you at shoulder height.
  2. Engage your core to stabilize your lower body and keep your hips steady.
  3. Slowly lift your top arm, rotating it across your body to open your chest toward the ceiling.
  4. Follow your moving hand with your gaze as it arcs to the opposite side.
  5. Return your arm to the starting position in a controlled motion.

Tips for Success

  • Keep your knees together to prevent your hips from rotating.
  • Move slowly and focus on controlled, smooth motions to maximize the stretch.
  • Breathe deeply as you open your chest to help release tension.

This exercise is excellent for improving thoracic mobility and flexibility, helping to alleviate tightness in the upper back and shoulders. Add it to your routine for better posture and movement!
